For Distressed Theater Workers of Bengal
An Evening with famous thespian Debshankar Haldar
Covid-19 and Cyclone Amphan have brought a great hardship to all people of Bengal. One of the groups that has been hit the hardest are the theater workers who support the theater industry with stage, lights, ticket sales etc. They are usually lower middle class people who survive on theaters. Theater actors usually have other incomes.
However, these backstage and off-stage workers do not have a second source of income. To help these people who are the backbone of Kolkata theater we have joined hands with Debshankar Halder, a noted theater personality of Bengal, to arrange for a fund-riser that you can attend on-line sitting in your drawing room.
This will be an evening with Debshankar Haldar. You will get to see four mini-plays (10 minutes each) from four different theater groups from USA. There will critical comments from Debshankar after each play. Then there will be a discussion with Debshankar and Playwright & Director Arindam Mukherjee of Kolkata on the current state of Bengali theater. We request a sponsorship of $50; and the suggested donation is $10.00 minimum.
