Pallishri Project

Promise Worldwide and Promise Kolkata Charitable Trust are making significant strides in providing basic education to children in remote areas through remote cyber education delivered by successful professionals. Pallishri, is a village in Barjora Block of Bankura district.  Barjora Block has a total population of 202,049, with 12.8% residing in urban areas and 87.2% in rural areas. According to Census 2011, the average literacy rate in urban areas is 81.5%, and in rural areas, it is 70.2%. Of the population, 11% are children between 0-6 years old, with 11740 male children and 11087 female children. The total literacy rate of Barjora Block is 71.67%, with male literacy at 71.84% and female literacy at 54.84%. Promise has made an impact in Pallishri by providing education to nine students belonging to the scheduled tribe, who would otherwise have limited access to basic education.
